JORGE A. LOPEZ earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1983. He continued his education at the University of Miami School of Law, where he earned a J.D. degree in 1986. Mr. Lopez was admitted to the Florida Bar in October of 1986.
Mr. Lopez practice areas include personal injury, wrongful death, airline disasters as well as commercial litigation, and consumer and securities fraud related matters. Additionally, Mr. Lopez has extensive experience in corporate and real estate transaction matters.
Some of Mr. Lopez's prior clients include AIB Financial Group, Inc. (AIB) of Miami, Florida, a property and casualty insurance and financial services holding company which, at the time, was among the largest Hispanic owned businesses in the United States; the Company's principal subsidiaries which included Union American Insurance Company, Associated Insurance Brokers, Inc., AIB Mortgage Company, Auto Premium Finance Company and AIB Claims Management Company.
Mr. Lopez served as AIB's General Counsel and Corporate Secretary until September of 1997, and was responsible for advising the Company's management and Board of Directors on all aspects of the Company's legal affairs, including all general corporate matters, contract drafting and negotiation, real estate matters, employment matters and the supervision of outside litigation.
